Frequently Asked Questions

Learn about the services we offer by reading the answers to our most frequently asked questions.

In this section we answer some of the frequently asked questions we often get asked when it comes to buying, selling, renting or letting your home. If you can't find the answer to your question, please feel free to contact us.

Are all your properties listed on our website?

No. Every year we arrange many sales and tenancies that never appear online and are never advertised to the public.  To find out about everything we have for sale and to let and to find out about properties that are being discreetly marketed, you need to register with us.

As a seller or landlord, how do I find my own property for sale on your website?

When you sell or let your property with Burns & Webber, you get given access to MyBurnsandWebber – our customer portal which provides information about your property sale/let, including conveyancing progress and updates, contract documents and correspondence and easy access to your property listing.

Are you an independent mortgage broker?

Burns & Webber make referrals to Curchods Mortgage Services who are ‘whole of the market’ mortgage advisers. This means they are often able to find lending options that High Street banks cannot match.  We can look at your position in detail and help you find the right mortgage product for your needs.

You can learn more about the products and services we offer on the Curchods Mortgage Services page.

Where can I find school and catchment area information?

Information about local schools, including catchment areas, OFSTED ratings, parent reviews and more, can be found on the Schools section of our website, or on the location tab of our property listings.

Which property portals do you advertise on?

When you sell or let your property with Burns & Webber we advertise it on all the UK’s leading property websites including Rightmove, Zoopla, Primelocation, OnTheMarket and Country Life. So you can be confident of having your home in front of thousands of buyers and tenants.

How much is your fee?

As a seller or landlord, you can take advantage of our No Sale/No Let, No Fee facility, which means you only pay when we sell or let your home – if we don’t succeed for you, you pay us nothing.

What is the housing market doing at the moment?

If you’ve not found it yet, the Curchods Blog is the best place to catch up on all the latest housing market information with regular property market overview commentary provided by our area managers.

You can also subscribe to our newsletter for the latest housing market info direct to your inbox.

What professional regulatory bodies do you belong to?

All of our 21 residential sales branches are now officially licensed under Propertymark, the UK’s leading independent regulatory body. This means your local residential sales branch is one of a very few number of local agents who are licensed.

The Property Ombudsman’s role in residential sales is to provide fair and reasonable resolutions to disputes between members of the public and estate agents who are members of the TPO Scheme or who have registered with TPO as an Approved Estate Agents Redress Scheme. Firms who are members follow the TPO Code of Practice for Residential Sales.

We are part of the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS), ensuring our landlords and tenants are covered at all times throughout the letting process.

The Property Ombudsman is able to consider disputes referred by landlords or tenants and relating to lettings and management agents that are members of the scheme. These agents follow the TPO Code of Practice for Letting Agents.

Note that disputes relating to repayment of deposits paid by tenants and which are protected by an approved Tenancy Deposit Scheme should be referred to the relevant Deposit Protection Scheme.
